AC Shadows Reveals Surprising Attack on Titan Crossover for Holiday Season
In a surprising collaboration that breaks usual expectations, the game developer has announced an virtual collaboration between Assassin's Creed Shadows and the popular anime series Attack on Titan. The surprising holiday event continues from November 25 through December 22, including free bonus story content for Shadows players.
Peculiar Questline Disclosed
According to the authorized release, "An unusual meeting pulls characters Naoe and Yasuke into a fresh quest, where hints of banned ceremonies and monstrous metamorphoses echo through the darkness." The storyline features a "strangely attired woman named Ada" who tasks the pair with journeying into the Crystal Cave—a key location from Attack on Titan—to liberate her friend from a clandestine group.
The adventure centers on "bizarre experiments and a fearsome adversary" and is open to all players who have gained access to the Yasuke character.
Iconic Places and Changes
The preview features the Underground Chapel from Attack on Titan reimagined as the Crystal Cave. This important location was earlier where the Reiss royal family transmitted the Founding Titan ability through ages. The preview concludes with a dramatic scene showing a character, probably the captive, morphing into a Titan that looms over Naoe and Yasuke.
Special Items and Extra Content
Players who successfully complete the quest will receive an unique katana in addition to numerous artifacts hidden throughout the area in secret chests. The update also includes premium Attack on Titan item packs, including:
- Titan-based costume for Yasuke
- Mikasa attire for Naoe
- Exclusive weapons
- Survey Corps vehicle
Newest Free Story Addition
This release also introduces the game's third no-cost story episode, titled "A Puzzlement." This playful adventure pairs Naoe and Yasuke as they swap distinctive techniques: Naoe introduces a dramatic version of Yasuke's war kick, while Yasuke acquires subduing stealth takedowns. True to its name, "A Puzzlement" also contains a original environmental puzzle that may eventually shed light on some lingering questions from the main storyline.
Past Anime Collaborations
This represents scarcely the first time the Assassin's Creed franchise has crossed over with famous anime series. The series earlier included a 2020 cross-promotional story linking Assassin's Creed: Valhalla with Makoto Yukimura's Vinland Saga. Additionally, Valhalla subtly included a quest that clearly echoed the popular series One-Punch Man.
